"No Cursing" Rule
(Tony Milewski leagues only)
The following rule will be in effect in all games serviced by the Rockland County Umpires Association, effective the 1994 Season. It is called the "No Cursing" rule.
"If a player, manager, coach, or team follower curses or demonstrates in a loud, unsportsmanlike manner, an additional ‘out’ will be called on that team. This ‘out’ will occur whether the team is on offense or defense. If on defense, when it is their turn to bat, they will start the inning with 1 out. This rule will be enforced after a warning is given to each team. The penalty for this rule DOES NOT replace the umpire’s responsibility to eject any participant from the game for cursing or unsportsmanlike behavior."
There have been several complaints by teams and spectators that, at many games, language and conduct of participants is so bad that attendance is not suitable for wives, girlfriends or children.
This rule is intended to eliminate cursing and unsportsmanlike behavior during softball games, and to make attending games a more enjoyable experience for players and spectators, alike.
